Indiana IDSA Chapter Announces appointment of Chair Seats

Indianapolis, IN – May, 22, 2008— The Indiana chapter of the Industrial Design Society of America today announced the appointment of its board members.  Specifically, the chapter filled the positions of President and Vice-President— which has been separated geographically into three regions: North, Central and South.

Chapter President: James Spaulding is a graduate of the Purdue University’s Industrial Design Department.  James has held positions designing school interiors, exhibits, and consumer electronics. During his career he has established relationships with clients such as Eli Lilly, Allison Transmission, and Cummins.

Vice-President (North): Michael Verdone completed his Industrial Design studies at Purdue University.  After fulfilling commitments with the US Air Force, Michael began his professional career with Catalyst Product Design Group Inc. of Indianapolis. While there, Michael developed a keen sense of design with a strong focus on engineering. Recently, Michael has transitioned into the position of Industrial Designer with Norwood Promotional Products of Indianapolis.

Vice-President (Central): Andrew Mendenhall completed his industrial design degree at Purdue University in 1997. He has been part of the Catalyst Product Development Group Inc. team since its inception in 1998. He is actively involved in all aspects of the design process, including: product research, creative brainstorming, design validation, mechanical problem solving, and timeline and proposal budgeting.  He is also responsible for growing and managing the design team.

Vice-President (South): Ty Sumner Adams received a degree in Industrial Design from California State University-Long Beach.  After graduating, Ty spent time as Director of Design at Paoli, Inc. and in 2001 transitioned to the role of owner/Director of Industrial design at Adams:Kinkade Design, LLC.  Ty is also a former President of Indiana’s IDSA chapter.

Filling necessary board member positions is an important step in meeting IDSA requirements for chapter recognition.  With experienced industrial designers leading Indiana’s chapter, members throughout the state can look forward to the many benefits the society provides.
