O'Cedar Small Wares
|
Before partnering with Catalyst, O’Cedar’s line of small wares cleaning implements required that each product have its own unique handle. Their desire was to not only consolidate manufacturing processes by utilizing a single handle design for the 24 different utensils, but to create a unique, consistent look that would help build brand awareness. From what appeared to be a straightforward exercise in handle design, grew one of the more challenging projects that Catalyst has ever been involved with. The group of 24 different products was comprised of brushes, squeegees, dust bins, and other miscellaneous cleaning tools and each product had its own distinct use and means of cleaning action. This meant that a handle that worked well for one range of motion and grip, did not necessarily work well for any of the other tools. After extensive ergonomic studies and hundreds of clay models, a handle design was found that not only worked comfortably for all 24 tools but captured a unique look for the product line. Catalyst continued to work with O’Cedar in building prototype tooling for the handle and the TPE overmolds to verify the design prior to production release. |
