Scuba Voice

The Scuba Voice product is a device which allows divers to communicate under water without using any electronics.  A proprietary device inside allows the diver’s voice to carry through 10 to 15 feet of water.

The two entrepreneurs responsible for the concept approached Catalyst with a rough prototype they had constructed from a piece of PVC pipe.  Through a series of brainstorming activities it was determined that the product line should be comprised of two products: a “Ranger” model and the “Mach 1”.  The Ranger could be worn on the wrist and would require the diver to remove his regulator to use.  However, the product included other features such as a flashlight, magnifying glass, depth gauge, and “tank banger” to determine the oxygen level in the air tank.  The “Mach 1” model was a communicator only and fit in-line with the divers regulator line.

Catalyst provided complete industrial design, mechanical design, and prototyping services for the products and went on to product tooling for the components.
